One dreadful night, Death came into my home
Until midnight nobody saw him
I believe he was Black in color – unnoticeable at night
He hid himself when we switched on the light
I’ve heard that dogs howl and owls hoot when
They see Death sneaking into a house
But nothing seemed unusual that black night
Perhaps he had bribed them with bones
Sound asleep were we when Death attacked
Dad always wanted to ‘go’ before any of us in our family
So he braved death and got the stab on his heart,
Thus saving others from him.
My Dad has given me that brave heart,
Courage and has taught me how to be a man
When Death comes next time to my home
I’ll surely defend my family – no matter what I have to pay for.
